PlasticPlace offers financial incentives by sponsoring a scholarship to help you pay for school and fund your dreams. We recognize the importance of diversity on college campuses and in the business sector, and we are committed to encouraging minority and female students to succeed in their entrepreneurial endeavors. To that end, we have created The PlasticPlace Young Entrepreneurs Scholarship for students who have the aptitude to become America’s future entrepreneurs —primarily those who belong to any underrepresented minority demographic.


The PlasticPlace Young Entrepreneurs scholarship is awarded to select applicants with strong academic credentials pursuing a degree in business, economics, organizational management, or another business-related field, to develop talented minority youth and help prepare them for a successful career in the private sector.


Winning the award will require some work on your part.  If you’re a sound writer with admirable grades, tenacity, and innovative ideas for products and services, our scholarship essay contest could be a great option for you. 


We ask that you produce a thoughtful, well-written essay on the topic listed below to enter into the contest. The winning essay will be chosen on the basis of quality of research, originality, and presentation.


Eligibility Requirements



Incoming students for the 2017 semester, who are US citizens. Preference will be given to applicants who are female, or belong to any minority group, including; African American, Asian American, Native American, Hispanic, etc.
The scholarship will be payable to the winner’s college/university (in the US).
Scholarship awarded to students with an average SAT score of 1070 and an average GPA of 3.5 or above.
Winners are not based on financial need.
Homeschooled students may apply as long as academic level is equivalent to that of their peers.


Contest guidelines


 

  • Article submissions must be between 600 and 900 words.
  • Each student is allowed only one essay submission.  Any attempt to enter again under a different name, address, etc., will automatically disqualify the student.
  • The student selected as the winner will be required to submit the name and contact information of their chosen college/university for verification of registration and payment of the scholarship directly to the school.
  • PlasticPlace will contact the winner by email within fourteen (14) business days of the contest end date, using the contact information provided by the applicant.
  • Winners have ten (10) calendar days from date email is sent to respond and verify they meet the eligibility requirements.
  • All processes must be completed within sixty (60) days of contest end date, or scholarship is forfeited.

Award Amount


The PlasticPlace Young Entrepreneurs Scholarship award is in the amount of $1,500.

The scholarship is paid directly to the educational institution in the student’s account to be used for tuition for the spring 2017 semester. The scholarship funds may be used over a period not to exceed four (4) years.


Essay Topic


The PlasticPlace Young Entrepreneurs Scholarship will be awarded for the winning essay on the topic of:                   

  • How to Design and Market a New Product
  • How to conceptualize a new product idea
  • How to commercialize the launch of the new product
  • How to build brand awareness and loyalty

How to Apply


Application requirements:

  • Student must complete his/her own application.
  • Before scholarship will be awarded, all information submitted will be verified.
  • If ANY false information is submitted on the application, the student will be disqualified.
  • Provide an official copy of academic transcript from current school.

Deadline


All application emails must reach PlasticPlace by 12:00 pm (noon) Eastern Time on 11/01/16. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.
